Reconstruction of the North Ninth Street Bridge called for a new roadway and lighting configuration. Design work focuses on the new closed median and central lighting theme. Light poles in crisscross patterns reflect familiar railroad crossing signs, while median pavers create a rhythmic pattern as one passes. The artist intentionally created a relationship to design influences incorporated into the North Ohio Overpass. Both Salina entryways echo aspects of railroad travel, operation, and history.
