Horizons Grants Progam
"There is no direction I could have gone without the Horizons grant. It has allowed me to take a big step toward being able to compose, play, produce and arrange my own music."
- Gary Monsanto, guitarist, Salina, KS

t.gif - 279 Byteshe Horizons Grants Program encourages the growth of art and culture in our community by gathering resources and distributing them where they will make a difference. Through the Grants Program, public and private dollars are brought together to support artists and arts organizations especially, but also just as importantly, to expand the scope of the arts in our community - through schools, non-profit agencies, social service agencies, volunteer organizations, governmental agencies, religious institutions and public entities. The Horizons Grants Program is our unique cultural gateway - it creates connections to one another, and the global community, by providing the threshold to develop our artistic future.

Horizons Grants are awarded to local artists (Developing Artists category) and organizations (Special Projects and Advancement & Change categories) through a process of proposal and evaluation with dollars awarded annually by the Salina Arts and Humanities Commission on a competitive basis. In 1999 The Horizons Grant Program involved over 50,000 people in eight Special Projects Grants, six Developing Artists Grants and two Advancement and Change Grants.
